Basically having AI loiter munitions that automatically attack targets based in their proximity to a known location is just an air based mobile mine field.
That would potentially remove the need for traditional land mines and unlike traditional land mines, these wouldn't be run over by farmers 10+ years after the war, or tripped by a child playing in the forest. These drones would be dangerous yes, but if contained within a known area its no different to a minefield. The "good guys" would know where the boundaries are in much the same way that they know where minefields are, with the added bonus of being able to do area denial, on a known time frame.
Kill everything in that space, until 11pm. After 11pm the good guys charge through the zone knowing they won't be attacked. But if the enemy pushed prior to 11pm, they would be destroyed.
It's interesting how one could push back against this type of system, when landmines are still used.
