I think this video is missing the point. AI threats to jobs is not some customer using chatgpt instead of hiring developers to do the work, although ironically that is most visible wow factor for outsiders(people who are not developers are super impressed that chatgpt can write them a game or webpage). Issue is that compared to average developer ChatGPT actually writes better code on average, is 10+x faster, offers better ideas, etc. So unless there is a huge breakthrough soon I do not think I will be unemployed soon, but the fact that my mad skillz are easily available to junior developers if they are not totally incompetent in understanding what LLMs produce is a big hit on my ability to demand a large salary. Now it is true there are some closed source companies like HFT where LLMs did not consume all the source, but those areas are rare.
