Replacing lawyers is not so far for AI, it just needs to be trained specifically for that task, right now is possible if engineers get to it, make an AI that would be better than 80% of lawyers, but its biggest power would be being used by a lawyer as a tool.
in the near future, is possible to completely replace average lawyers with the biggest models, chat GPT is not a big model.
current chatgpt is a consumer grade AI, i believe they use turboGPT or GPT3.5 with extremely reduced capabilities the model is small, and they have been making it worse to support the huge amount of users it has.
BUT, there is bigger more powerful AI models that need huge expensive hardware to run that are massively better, you can try some paying for each token analyzed and generated and they are way better, GPT 4 is many times better than what you have in chat gpt and there are bigger models that are not available for use.
