If social media existed when the car was invented, all the folks who used horses would have made the same arguments. There will be fewer cowboys, jobs will be lost, cars can't be controlled, etc, etc.
Current truck drivers will simply switch to other jobs like most farriers did.
There will be more short routes in urban areas with smaller vehicles where automation is not as efficient.
