The "environmental impact of AI" is the biggest piece of BS red herring bait and switch snake-oil shell game I have heard of. No one cares about how much energy goes into manufacturing paper shopping bags, the environmental impact of Amazon delivery vans, or disposal of baby diapers or even running all the cell phones and TV's on the planet.
