"There is no value to consuming art without a creator behind it" I've been watching movies and tv shows all my life, and for the life of me I couldn't name you 3 directors/writers. I've largely been enjoying art while being oblivious to the people behind it. Idk the name of the guy who wrote my favorite book, I don't know who sings my favorite song (I know the name of the band at least), i never bother to learn who drew that cool picture i came across scrolling reddit, it just isn't interesting to me. I grew up with art teachers always telling me that the most important thing about art is how it makes ME feel, so to suddenly have this influx of opinions like yours that claim the most important thing about art is the person behind it, is quite the whiplash. Of course now I don't think there is such a thing as "the most important thing about art", cause subjectivity is a thing, that was probably just my teachers' way to encourage me to derive meaning from the art I consume and make. Of course I'm not saying I can't enjoy art the way you do, of course I can, sometimes the method is so fantastically impressive that you can't help but be in awe of the human behind it and all the talent they have. This will literally never ever be replicated by machines. It's why industrialization didn't kill artisans, having cutlery made by people instead of an assembly line of machines still feels super cool. And sure, a kid usually has no appreciation for the method, but I think it is elitist to suggest the way kids enjoy art is somehow inferior. The art is still conveying something to those kids and they can feel a wide range of emotions because of it, if that isn't art appreciation nothing is. I'm absolutely saying this because to this day this is how I personally enjoy most of the art I consume. My overall point is, It feels like in this video where you are attacking ai "art", people like me somehow got hit in the crossfire. Have I been faking being entertained my entire life? Or have you incorrectly made an absolute statement about what is or isn't entertaining? Also, I hope it isn't lost on you that all those anti-artist statements by those creators are purposefully made to anger you, they saw how angry artists get when you show even a hint of appreciation for ai "art", so of course they're going to try to anger you more.
