People who interact with AI romantic/sexual partners or rotobic partners have one thing in common - in my opinion - they are afraid to deal with humans, or find it inconvenient (control freaks), and see the alternative as safe or easier. They'd avoid romantic interaction even without access to robots or AI. Now they have an alternative and don't have to face their emotional issues around this condition. The other thought I have about this is perhaps romanic attachment to robotic partners is really self-love in disguise. A stretch, but . . . P.S. Steven, this is such a fascinating episode.
