Another big reason I see people defending AI slop is because they want to make visuals for products they are making, but don't know anything about art and want the AI to make something, cheaply and easily, for them that will make their product look higher quality. I see this mostly in Youtube videos, specifically channels that cover things like book series or TV shows. They consider the script and filming themselves in their bedrooms the important parts of the product. Then, like an afterthought, they want cool images of Harry Potter fighting Voldemort to break up the clips of them just sitting there without having to pay artists or getting copyright stricken. A channel called MovieFlame is really bad with this, and he had the gall to release a video defending why he uses AI slop.
I also see this to a less serious extent in this Magic the Gathering facebook group I am in. People post images of custom cards they made with AI slop for the picture, and defend it as "non-artists should be able to make art too!" Um... I mean... you don't have a _right_ to. If you want to make art, then learn how.
