I echo the last comment. Bernie, you are the first politician to clearly define the problem and propose some real solutions to what is absolutely coming.
An interesting thought exercise: if “magically” every American worker was provided a robot that could go to their job and that robot only worked for that American worker, then we would solve at least part of what Mr. Sanders is talking about. we would have a fully automated workforce that works for American citizens.
Of course, these robots are not going to show up magically. Bernie’s suggestion for a robot tax might work instead. Also, this automation doesn’t show up overnight, but it shows up gradually and reducing the work week (but not reducing income) provides a way to gradually transition to something approaching a fully automated workforce.
Anyway… I’m glad at least somebody in leadership of our country is thinking about these issues. And has the guts to start putting out ideas for addressing this very real issue that has been going on for decades and is accelerating.
