Trying not to take a side, I think it's important to note that even if a model is trained on a particular image, the resulting model does not contain that image nor can it reproduce it.
You'd also have a difficult time proving that a specific work was included in a model's trained data, so even with some sort of copyright law it would probably be unrealistic to enforce.
Yes, training models on a specific artist's work in order to impersonate or slander is bad, but there are already laws for that (defamation).
As for the music industry, it is an interesting point. I think the reason music is treated more carefully is that they have a 25-year head start in ferociously protecting their intellectual property.
Frustrating as it is, I don't think making this a copyright issue will help artists at all. Media needs to help educate people on the difference between ai and human art, and then we need a culture that better celebrates the human part of the art, not just the picture.
