AI models can and should be trained only on data that is firmly public domain. That said, a tool finally exists for people like me who have 0 artistic talent, to create an image that they desire for whatever practical reason, and we should get rid of it because we're taking potential revenue from artists that we never would have commissioned in the first place? Should we return to just 'doing without'? Should I start somehow poisoning all the powershell and python scripts I write in an attempt to keep AI from getting better at coding? AI content generation has opened up a whole new world of possibilities in so many areas, I realize that it has its dangers but so does electricity; it can power your house, or it can cook an elephant, it's all about who is applying it and how. This is nowhere near the same situation as the NFT ridiculousness mentioned in your pinned comment; this isn't a bunch of overconfident degenerate gamblers creating a graphical version of a memecoin, instead, this is _almost all_ of the most powerful companies on the planet throwing billions of dollars in labor and hardware into a veritable arms race... and that's just the publicly visible part, there's also the Military R&D that you just know is happening in the background.
