Worth noting, I don’t think ‘references’ exclusively mean ‘tracing’.
I use various (non-AI) images for lighting references, colour palettes, even down to just eye or hand shapes… This doesn’t mean I just outline the original reference image and copy paste it into my own art, so y’know… Kind of a misfire there to assume that’s what references are only for.
