I think it can make sense. AI to me is alot like photography, the vast majority of photographs taking aren't very creative, and I wouldn't exactly consider art. Using a camera is incredibly easy, all it takes is pressing a button. But, I have seen AI artworks that genuinely took alot of fine-tuning and effort. I saw one AI project recently that apparently took a whole team of people and two weeks to accomplish. I've seen actual artists use AI, and in their hands it's very clear they are not just typing a quick prompt. AI to me, is very easy to learn hard to master sort of deal. To me, if AI is like art, it is very similar to how coding can be an artistic endeavor. Obviously, creating something beautiful with code doesn't require any of the normal artistic skills you would think of, but it still is art imo. Anyway, the main problem with people making this argument is the VAST majority of AI 'artists' are not using AI this way. Just like it would be super annoying if everyone who just took random shitty photos considered themselves on the same level as photographers, unless someone is spending alot of time with AI and on their work, I'm just NOT going to ever consider them an artist.
