It's so sad, because at one point I thought the same way. Mind you, there was no easy AI images maker when I was a kid, but I would look at my friend, who was so good at drawing and think how much I wished I could be talented like that. She made it seem so easy, with adorable doodles and beautiful drawings in class that didn't seem to be difficult at all.
The key difference, I realized years later, was that she practiced and practiced at home. That she went to art classes outside of school. She worked hard for it. I just couldn't. I couldn't afford the classes she went to, and I couldn't allow myself to practice because I didn't even know how I was supposed to start. How I was meant to sketch things or measure the anatomy...and the moment I saw something I didn't like, I would just get frustrated and stop. I was told I was just not meant for art, that I couldn't do it and to focus on more important things rather than "silly drawings". If I didn't do it right fast enough, I was not meant for it and should move on.
A mindset like that can really mess you up, because it doesn't allow you to fail. You don't see failure as a step closer to success, you see failure as a sign that you are the failure, that you're not good enough or not meant for whatever you're trying. As if you're born with a predetermined skill set like some dnd or Sims character, not like a person that can, and will, mess up on the way to developing abilities.
It's a problem, for sure, and uprooting a mindset like that can be extremely difficult after years of living with it. But it's possible. It can be hard and frustrating, but you have to let yourself make mistakes. Make bad drawings, make terrible drawings even. Just give yourself the time to fail and learn
