Ok, I’ve listened to this and the other interviews about this tragic case, and I am going to weigh in. First off, I am so very sorry for the loss of this young man, and his addiction to character ai definitely played its part, however a young man does not become addicted to the escapism of such a site, without being overwhelmed and feeling out of control in real life. I hear he was under a lot of pressure to continue in a sport he had lost interest in, due to parents dreams of him being a success. I hear that when he retreated to his room, which all teenagers do and need to have that safe space, his mother insisted on sitting in there with him, and I hear that his phone with that escape of character ai on it was taken off him, by his mother. Also the gun didn’t get handed to him by character ai, nor did the character tell him to harm himself. I think the mother is desperately looking for someone to blame, and again I sympathise…we all do our best and we all make mistakes as parents. I do not believe character ai was the one factor in his decision.
