Lex makes the point that there will be incremental change and we will detect a significant AI event that will lead to more regulation and safeguards. This made me think of a clinical description of heart disease - one of the symptoms is "sudden death". The recognition of a symptom and the erroneous foregone conclusion you will have the ability to do anything about it is the larger problem at play in this discussion.
