The true purpose of most modern corporate jobs is to break the class solidarity and class consciousness of the masses. Even without AI, tech can replace most bullshit corporate jobs. AI only makes it more obvious. We saw during the pandemic that most corporate jobs can be done from home. They don't even require a physical presence in the office, and most people who work from home aren't even putting in a full day of work.
So why do these jobs even exist? Without them, people would rapidly develop a class consciousness and form solidarity with their peers. That solidarity would then make demands on the capitalist class to improve their economic material conditions which would mean less billionaires and multi-millionaires. Our elections would be about real issues instead of cultural wars and personality contests.
AI could change all of that. Corporations cannot avoid using it as it will improve over time.
