9:17 I think when they talk about reference, they mean "give him a red scarf" so they have something to base their drawing off of. Like artists who take the ai drawing and recreate it themselves
This would actually be helpful for someone who wants to create a character, but can't draw them without a version of that character that "exists". Sorta "This person does not exist" vibes.
