Nope, I don't think that's the problem at all. The problem isn't that it was all constructed like that. The why isn't as important as the what, if the what is of good quality. Many are too fixed on the whys of art, but it's not the most important part. With the youtube analogy, I think it depends on the way things are presented, if the youtuber was lying to me I would be pissed off, but if it was assumedly so I would think it would be cool...
The problem with AI art is that is has NO PROPER notion of artstyle and intention... It's cool and all, but it's nowhere near where it would have to be to say, make a great and unique looking game art assets.
