I like to just refer to them as prompters, since that's what they actually did and that's the point of the technology. The actual artist doing the artwork is the AI, meaning prompters are just commissioners who now commission machines but they want the art credit. Prompters seem to just buy the marketing gimmick that /they/ did all that work with such little "effort". "Democritized art", pssh. Also, I don't call the resulting stuff "art" as this isn't even a sapient mind putting out its own interpretation of the prompt. It's just a machine with stolen data outputting whatever it was trained to put out. I've seen "slop" getting used more and more, and I say keep it growing. It's all slop and the "artists" are just prompters. To be clear, though, if you mean someone who did the art and used AI to /help/ during the process, then yeah that's an artist but that doesn't mean they don't deserve to get checked for it.
