Tesla needs a guy in the passenger seat, and someone at HQ ready to take over. Waymo don't. Why would you NOT want to have LIDAR in addition to cameras!? The more sensors the more information and awareness awareness a vehicle's AI has. Tesla seems all about FAKING "AI".
