Hahaha! I love all those Tesla fans going wild, here.
In a Mercedes, the system has an actual purpose: You can use your phone.
What use does FSD have? You are driving a car - while having full responsibility - just for the sake of the car driving itself?
btw: We have no speed limits at all, on most parts of our german highways - Its true: People may drive as fast as they like. In the latest BMW, level 3 works up to 80mph.
-
If you crash in that Mercedes, you do not have to go to court. Mercedes has to do that.
Level 3: Driver may be distracted = by law, the manufacturer has to accept full responsibility.
Tesla is not willing to accept that responsibility in private cars. Not under any circumstances.
-
Tesla is about to get "automatic lane change" on special highways in Europe. Then, the car may change the lane, without the drivers confirmation. That is about all the autonomy Tesla gets with level 2.
In the US, most Tesla owners did not even try FSD, yet. That will change, as soon as they are allowed to play on their phones.
-
There is no Tesla model yet, that fulfills the minimum hardware requirements for level 4, since they all lack the necessary redundance for the sensors (like having no "back-up" cameras)..
---------
I am not saying, that Mercedes is more advanced. Quite the opposite. However. it is a different approach, due to regulations and national traffic laws.
Sorry, for my bad english..
