My input on this is that this experiment shows that coding with AI is still dependent on your knowledge as the human in the loop. My job has been pushing us to leverage AI so a lot of my focus has been looking to make that interfacing more impactful. Instead of spending 100 prompts telling AI what it did wrong, I spend 10 prompts setting up detailing exactly what I want it to do before sending it off to do it. I have had a lot more success with it. The productivity “gains” are a bit smaller but it means less prompting and overall less frustration on my end. I feel more in control, less reliant on the vibes, and like my knowledge in the field is being utilized. I feel like I’ve seen enough tests of pure vibe coding not working super well and am more interested in what the next step beyond that is.
