I mostly agree with Bernie, but I disagree that "work" is somehow "necessary". Yes, things are going to change. Healthier, happier more fulfilling life does NOT necessarily mean "working" in the old sense. Bernie's proposal for a 32-hour work week is a great idea, but it needs to be followed by a 24-hour work week and maybe a 20-hour work week in 30-40 years. Yes, workers should have a stake in all companies.
But most importantly, RICH PEOPLE NEED TO BE TAXED APPROPRIATELY! We used to have a 90% top tier tax bracket. Now, the top tier tax is 37%. If we just pushed the top tax bracket back to 50%, it would make a HUGE difference in the country's ability to meet its bills and compensate workers for job loss or hours loss due to automation.
But in the end, we need to set up a financial structure that is much more fair to ALL US citizens and workers.
