Another disabled artist here - 3D assemblage and props. AI sucks the life out of education, talent, history and subtext. Users get a buzz thinking they are now "artists" too! Sure, whatever.. I'm the first to admit I'm having fun playing with the tech but I'm under no illusion the images it's spitting out aren't due to any talent beyond writing some words. Prompts are not rocket science or "art" in itself.
People say it's harmless but it's far from that. I work in a particular subgenre. People are posting these fantastical illusions that have no connection with reality and many still think it is real object. These creations don't follow the laws of physics, not to mention the only people who could commission them would need to be insanely wealthy/royalty. When a real artist posts their real creation - it looks mediocre compared to polished AI "glowing" renders. So young artists, needing encouragement, are left with a handful of hearts compared to thousands for the AI slop.
I'm certain some photos of my older works have ended up in engine training data.
