Take your average person on the street and force them to be creative. Lets say... think up a basic narrative story with 3 characters in some setting. Most people will go to deep desparation and panic, but some people will ad lib this on the spot. I'm an engineer and my speciality is weld flaw and dealing with construction flaws with the use of welded steel structures. I'm extremely good at coming up creative solutions, justify them and have them comply with standards and codes. However I know engineers who I consider to be much smarter than I am who go to a deep crisis when they can't apply the tools and methods they have. But once if can, they are amazing at pulling off things I can't even consider pulling off. Now when I studied, I noticed that there were 3 kinds of students. Those who had no problem with courses demanding things like product and business ideas, those who struggled but managed to come up with variation on something they knew well, and those who couldn't come up with an idea to save their life. Creativity is a skill I consider to be teachable, anyone can learn it. Some are better at it, some are worse. But that applies to every skill there is. So if you test creativity with people and they are like the other students I studied with. The average creativity is going to be biased towards low creativity. But if you'd test this AI against selection of experienced and seasoned improvisational actors. I think we'd be talking differently.
