Nothing is going to change until there's litigation. Laws exist to protect artists, but until we get the gumption to take them to court, they won't care. The music industry viciously defends its copyright.
There are ways in the code of websites to mark that this page is not to be indexed by web crawlers. Making sure you have though installed on you site is one way to protect yourself. Also, writing an explicit message on your site, saying, "This site is not to be consumed or indexed by AI for the sake of creating images," will help. However, everything you share on social media is something you're willingly giving to the platform and AI.
Lastly, one of the best ways to protect your artwork from consumption is to keep the images you post online small. I'd max out what is available to the public at 1000x1000, or even 800x800.
