I have once seen a painting in person that looked like a white canvas. But after looking for a while i realized that the light on the painting was part of the whole and was "hiding" the subtle gradients. The painting only appeared white in the context of this presentation. Just imagine the work to fine tune the colours, to arrange the light and to find the space in the gallery where everything can look just perfect. And this is only my personal perception while knowing nothing about the artist or their intention. Art is nothing without context. Most art only shows its full potential in the right surrounding, context and a fitting percipient/witness. A wonderful painting cannot be seen by a blind person or in total darkness. A beautiful song cannot be heard by a person without hearing or without air to transmit the sound. Any artist will claim that they have a deeper intention to transport in their art but the art is also a product of the artists subconscious. If art is not created by the artist, it losses the connection to the subconscious, the human being. It is often said that the art created by an artist's workshop is more sterile than art created by the artist themselves. The layers of meaning are reduced. Some artists like this reduction in complexity and say that the true meaning is more clear, the intention more sharp. The more the art is mechanised and simplified, the less it is perceived as art by the masses. The human being and its limitations is less visible in modern art than it is an 300 year old oil painting. People can feel this on a subconscious level. If you look at modern paintings from the 1960s, you can see the work in the brushstrokes, the way the colours are selected. A seemingly blank canvas may not really be blank but painted to look like there is nothing on it. AI-Pictures take away any human factor and reduce the creative process to simple commands. I can go into the forest, find a nice leaf and say: 'Hey look at this, this is art which i created!' I will have put more effort into the "looking at leafs" and "taking a leaf" than any "AI-Artist". And in the end, the leaf is the only one like it in existence and cannot be copied. It is a physical, tangible object. AI-art is basically remix performed by a machine based on commands. I thinks that there is a place for generative AI but in art it is not.
