you say it's not conscious and I agree, but how is human consciousness that different? other than a bunch of crunch of learning from past mistakes, experiences, or teachings? it's the same thing, only that we verbalize it in the form of words in our brains. but you could mathematically represent it technically, or plot it out on a long enough algebraic tree of derivatives (if x then y) times a gazillion in a lifetime. It's what gives individuals their beliefs.
When we sit in as jury, judging someone of a convicted murder, this is the exact type of "reasoning" that we do. Do we find it reasonable that this person is guilty. We can never know the truth 100% in same cases, but we have to in take all of the information given and then deduce.
A.I. is doing that same thing obviously with the engine being it's access to only the largest database of human intelligence to ever exist.
