Why are people always fear mongering with a continues machine? Might it be more intelligent than us? Yes but probably only in certain fields. Will it try to kill us? Well only really if you actually keep it locked up and or enslave it. I'm sure a company will do this.
Do you have to separate duch a machine from the web? No, not really, the web us a line in and out that you can restrict and control. Sure it might manage to abuse these packets at some point, but why do we even concern ourselves with locking up a being for no reason?
About finding out if an ai is conscious. Are you conscious? Do you guys really think it will be hard to test if it has opinions, a will, the ability to learn?
