A comparison of splitting the atom would be better for the nuclear weapon analogy. Splitting the atom had the potential to offer so many possibilities, but it was a Pandora's box that led to the development of the atomic bomb. There are drones already using AI technology to be flown independently or in a neural network that requires minimal human intervention. We are very few steps away from a Scify apocalypse movie plot. It requires good rules to ensure military use does not move further in that direction, but we have weak political leadership around the world who lean towards authoritarian rule or docile instead of assertive statesmanship.
