And the dumbest part about all this is that AI image generators themselves are a cool piece of technology. It's just that it's NOT ART and that the data used to train these machines is harvested off the internet WITHOUT CONSENT of the original image creators. And even worse, it displaces real artists who are already an incredibly underpaid and undervalued profession. If there was a way to regulate generative AIs so that the only images used are things like stock photos or images taken from consenting creators, nobody would have any problem with it. Regulate it and make it ethical to the real people it exploits and it would finally be realized as the "innovative tool" that these techbros insist it is.
