I think this battle is already lost.
If they must, these companies will go through their datasets, remove everything that is copyrighted, and then retrain their AIs. Focusing only on the copyright aspect will not save or change anything.
AI will eliminate many jobs. Artists. Musicians. Writers. These will only be the first casualties. AI is still in its infancy. We're just getting started. This fight is much bigger than copyright. This calls into question our entire economic model. In a world where not only menial tasks, but a simulation of human thinking and creativity can surpass the real thing, can not look the same.
The questions we need to ask are MUCH bugger than just about copyright. I work in the software industry. Much more is coming.
