A negative income tax should have happened like 70yrs ago.
The conservative argument for UBI is fraud and crime. When you need people to keep track of everyone’s numbers it can potentially get squirrelly. Plus Trump already did a mini UBI run. It got him a bunch of votes in the hood, lol.
The other thing is the arts are getting royally squeezed. When you look at what happened with lack of distribution in Japan it is not pretty. Women are becoming street walkers to spend the funds with their favorite J-pop stars while the demographics are plummeting. So if the creative areas don't get taken care of it can have negative rippling effects. Also Japan has a lot of automation that occurred before AI. AI could unlock decades of automation tools that previously were too technical for bosses to understand.
Taxation keeps the pitchforks at bay but without redistribution the globalists will destroy the local population. Not in a conspiracy kind of way but just from a lack of access to scarce resources kind of way. You can't print more land, food and healthcare.
