Important to note that Daniel Kokotajlo, who was being interviewed by Ross Douhat about the dangers of superintelligence, actually quit OpenAI at the risk of giving up millions in equity to raise the alarm. So, at the very least he is not incentived to overly hype the potential threat of AI capabilities.
