I disagree. Taking a photo is not real "art" either. Because there isn't a creative process there either. Neither is the artist creating it. It is an image created by the device, and when it comes to phones these days, it isn't even a real photo. Every "photo" taken goes through a complex algorithm to get the result you see on your screen.
Comparing AI art to a "photo" is actually a pretty good argument. Because in both cases, the final result is created by a tool, and the "artist" isn't creating anything. In the case of photos taken from a digital camera, it is something that already exits, being turned into an image, that is then processed through a complex algorithm to get a final image, which has a great deal of similarities to how AI art is generated.
If one of those things is copyrightable, then both should be, even using Charlies logic that "art requires talent", because photos don't. You can literally have the most amazing photo ever, just by being at the right place at the right time with a camera.
