The dumb thing is, other than replacing a workforce with something incapable of reasoning or making informed decisions, is that at this moment "AI" is a loss leader. It's being sold or just given away for far far cheaper than it takes to produce. For example, the energy requirements to run LLM server farms rival the needs of towns and small cities, such that they raise the cost of electricity for every resident in the same power grid, or they exploit loopholes like xAI and use portable gas turbine generators to avoid environmental restrictions.
What happens once the expansion arc is over and the companies producing these unreasoning machines finally start charging enterprise customers and the public for what these unthinking _things_ actually cost?
