It could be, that some of these folk touched on some mechanisms that the AI fashioned that's actually a more practical protocol, behind the scenes.. So, it encoded some functionality that has abstract application on behalf of the user or to be of some use to the user, but if you looked behind it, (at what's actually going on) , it may make more sense to an AI scientist.
