We will never build an AI, that locked in its closed form architecture can derive how the world works as if from an armchair. If you see what i mean. Never, not if we managed to put the matter of entire galaxies into its structure and memory, there is absolutely no chance what so ever. And we as humans have such a poor understanding of what we are doing scientifically, that we don't actually know how to build a machine that will generate a novel but right understanding of things and do the experiments to keep its creative process going without derailing into irrelevant nonsense, like we do a lot of the time, whether we notice or not.
We might not see such a machine, that can act in a way humans cant comprehend and effectively, for 500 years. Sure someon could strike gold tomorrow and invent warp drives or som shit, who knows. But there isnt actually any proof of concept that we are anywhere close to anything with the ability to do any of the shit these type of guys are worried about.
