Wrong !!! - this story is dangerous because it’s wrong. AI is NOT like the other enabling technologies, it will remove so many sectors so quickly that humans will be affected in a negative way by the hundreds of thousands, indeed millions. And these changes will be so fast that the homeless population will be enormous. Do not fold AI into the same old narrative that claims we’ll all be okay and just doing more productive things. This is dangerous because it’s setting up a false sense of security.
How do I know - look at the big earners Google Apple Facebook etc. These guys have been automating for a couple of decades - they haven’t replaced humans with algorithms or robots - they started out using automation so never needed many humans. The result is huge profits because humans are expensive to employ.
So please don’t peddle these lies - they are setting us up for disaster. We need to be discussing UBI as a safety net in order to provide some security to displaced individuals. There will soon be millions - maybe including you…
