Fairly late to the conversation: a bit of a tooting my own horn, graduated on dean’s list in my graduating year while getting my BA in visual arts 3.5 years ago. Now that that’s over with… I agree with you (and the ruling of copyright folks), I have no issue with folks using AI art as a tool to express themselves. You have a mental image of a green dragon in flight beside a ruined castle with a setting sun but can’t draw it? Boom! In a few word prompts you have a visual representative of your imagination. I don’t see an issue of artists using AI as inspiration/troubleshoot for a pose, composition, colours, scale, etc, etc, etc then drawing/painting/shooting/sculpting their piece. Like you, I draw the line (Ha!) with people claiming it as art. In my eye it cheapens what art actually is (expression of emotion, creativity, skill, and beauty). Also corporations are going to business like water is wet. Anything to save a penny 🙄
