There is a very big issue with AI technology these days that I don't see being addressed: it hasn't grown at all. AI art having the compiling errors through repeated cycling goes as far back as copying machines, or possibly even further back. Search assistants like Cortana, Siri, and Gemini have also been around for a long time, but as programs that existed in the background, instead of being given a public name.
In fact, I would beg to suggest that we haven't seen almost any genuine technological advancements for over a decade. Even current video game consoles, such as the Xbox Series X, just use technology that already exists, i.e. graphics cards. As another example, a lot of the self-driving cars utilize hardware AND software similar to what was used by DARPA during the mid 2000s.
Maybe if we acquire quantum computational capabilities, AI might become sustainable, but at that point, we could theoretically reproduce the human mind, which ultimately wraps the original art argument back around to favoring sentient beings again.
That, and, let's be honest, nobody supports AI art unless they're trying to be cheap, which instantly undermines any chances of AI art's success. Even if AI did succeed, the backlash would probably result in it's limitation, like with what happened with dockworkers, a career path that is oft threatened by advanced technologies.
