I don't think the way AI art is being handled is the correct way. From my perspective, it should be used as a tool. It has its use cases, this being Idea Generation, Composition and Color Study, Learning New Styles and more. As it is now though, its being used as a replacement for humans which is not the right move.
Well slight tangent, I also need to address the thought in the back of my mind. What if it is for the best? I know what your going to say so just hold on. The tractor replaced mules, Robots are replacing humans in factories, ATM's have basically replaced tellers.
I know it does not sound nice, but having a job destroyed can a be good thing because it creates others that can be better. Hell, Im a .Net software developer, my job is also at risk of being taken. But I cant help but think if in the long run it might be a good thing, perhaps it will help creativity at some point, I don't know but for now it certainly sucks for a lot of people.
