I think Roger went light on them and let them have their little fun.
Understanding is necessarily outside of the formal system that much is known and therefore any formal system (computation) created by humans is going to be limited to whatever is programmed. We don’t have a clue how we understand or select truths/statements so there is no possibility (definitely not as of yet and at least not for the foreseeable future) of us programming anything remotely akin to what we call consciousness.
Truth is outside of the system and the conscious observer (or if it is easier for anti consciousness sympathizers to swallow, truth selector) is not found within a system of artificial intelligence
