People don't want or need that much stuff. There is already a lot of under-employment in the world, automating jobs away just means that what is still being done by humans will use a smaller and smaller proportion of the population. When you take away people's economic value you remove their interest in preserving the economic system and power structure, and in democracies they will try to vote themselves rich just like the did with Chavez in Venezuela - it is going to lead us rapidly into repressive totalitarianism, and with AI to assist Big Brother we will never be free again.
