People are misinterpreting his fluency of speech to be intelligence. I work as a software engineer and have taken advanced machine learning courses, LaMdA is not sentient. He is anthropomorphizing his conversations with the AI, that's it. It's nothing but a glorified chatbot who can understand language really well and respond to questions.
