No corporation is looking out for anything other than the bottom line. If your bottom line isn’t forefront then the company won’t exist. So how can people be a chief concern then? People are very low on the order of importance. So the argument that there are some companies looking out for safety is bogus. When Hinton is wrong about AI proliferation in 10 years will his Nobel be rescinded! His argument doesn’t even compare to the threat that wealth inequality poses.
