Ai art is art combined from other art.
How is I ai trained?
The programmer of the ai takes a lot of images or art and describes them, accurately or not.

And bit by bit, the ai starts to learn how to recreate the art from the description.
And instead of directly copying the images, it combines them.
Why are the artists insulting them selfs?
Because ai content/art is technically just fanart.
Why is it fanart?
Because the human brain does not have that word "original".
