The horse and oxen breeders hated cars and tractors. The candle and oil lamp makers hated the light bulb. The spear and shield makers hated gunpowder. The examples are endless.
History is FULL of essential jobs that became obsolete. History if FULL of lives that were throughly upended by new technology and progress. The difference today is that the progress happens so fast society struggles to adapt. Thats because society is largely still structured like it was 100, 500, and 2000 years ago. Society will have to change fundamentally, because automation cannot be stopped. Progress cannot be stopped, only temporarily postponed.
We are living in the era of one of the largest shifts in human history. Things will get turbulent, very turbulent, but humanity will come out stronger on the other side. Just like we've always done.
