The reason music AI being handled differently is quite simple (I am a musician/songwriter). There are only 12 notes in western music! This means that there is a finite number of melodies that can be created. Many of them have already been copyrighted and new songs are created every day. The odds of any songwriter (including AI) coming up with a new "original" melody is quite slim at this point considering the limitations of 12 notes. It is not just those 12 notes, but having them sound "good" usually requires some structure. These structures are usually referred to in music as "keys" or "modes", reducing the 12 notes down to 7 (8 with the octave) that work together well. This reduces the melody note choices even further. I believe this is why the music AI advancement is much slower.
Music AI will get there in the coming years. Songwriters who make a living today making "beats", selling stock commercial licences, amd creating scores for small budget projects will be out of a job. It will happen, no doubt in my mind.
